Humanitarian Recognitions

The Lumiere du Monde Award, 2003


Margaret was recognized for her years of volunteer work for worthwhile causes that include spokesperson for World Vision (an organization that works to help Africa’s AIDS orphans and feed the world’s hungry), mobilizing thousands to end the injustice and indignity of substandard housing by donating proceeds from her concerts to Habitat For Humanity, and speaking out against apartheid in South Africa and the violence in Northern Ireland.

Episcopal Diocese Award, 1998

Margaret was honored with a Lifetime Fellowship by the Episcopal church in the diocese of Delaware for her work to end world hunger and promote interfaith understanding. The award marks the first time the diocese had bestowed such an honor.
